Simpler Than You Think
After a local anesthetic, we remove the decayed portion of the tooth, clean it thoroughly, and place the filling. Most patients are surprised by how straightforward it is. The whole process typically takes under an hour and you leave with a fully restored tooth.
We use tooth-colored composite resin that blends naturally with your surrounding teeth. No metal. No obvious sign that anything was done.

Why Timing Matters
A small cavity treated now stays a small cavity. Left alone, decay spreads deeper into the tooth and what could have been a simple filling may require a crown, a root canal, or eventually an extraction.
Most fillings are discovered during a routine exam before symptoms develop. That's the whole point of staying current with cleanings.

Not All Fillings Are the Same
Tooth-colored composite resin is now the standard for most fillings. It bonds directly to the tooth structure, which means less healthy tooth needs to be removed compared to older metal amalgam fillings. It's also more comfortable in temperature sensitivity over time.
If you have older metal fillings that are cracking or failing, they can be replaced. We'll let you know if that's worth considering.
