What Happens During a Dental Filling?
After a local anesthetic, we remove the decayed portion of the tooth, clean it thoroughly, and place the filling. Most patients are surprised by how straightforward it is. The whole process typically takes under an hour, and you leave with a fully restored tooth.
We use tooth-colored composite resin, bonding and blending naturally with your surrounding teeth to repair cavities and restore damaged tooth structure. No metal. No obvious sign that anything was done.

Not All Fillings Are the Same
Tooth-colored composite resin is commonly used for modern dental fillings because it blends with a patient's natural smile and can be used on front or back teeth. By bonding directly to the tooth structure, it often allows us to preserve more healthy tooth compared to older metal amalgam fillings. It's also more comfortable in temperature sensitivity over time.
If you have older metal fillings that are cracking or failing, they can be replaced. We'll let you know if that's worth considering.
