Gingivitis Treatment
Gingivitis is the earliest stage of gum disease and one of the easiest to treat when caught early. Most people don’t realize they have it until it’s pointed out during a visit.
That’s exactly why routine care matters.

Common. Treatable. Reversible.
What Gingivitis Actually Is
Gingivitis is inflammation of the gum tissue around the base of your teeth. It’s caused by plaque buildup that irritates the gums over time.
When caught early, it’s usually reversible with a professional cleaning and a few adjustments to your routine at home.
When More Care is Needed
Simple to Treat in Most Cases
For mild gingivitis, a professional cleaning is often enough to reverse it.
When it’s more advanced, we may recommend a deeper cleaning called periotherapy, also known as scaling and root planing.
This removes buildup below the gumline and gives the gum tissue a chance to heal.
Depending on your situation this may take one visit or a few. We’ll explain what’s needed and why before anything begins.

Something Most People Don’t Know
It Doesn’t Usually Hurt
Gingivitis rarely causes pain in the early stages.
That’s why it often goes unnoticed, even as the gums become irritated or start to bleed. Catching it early keeps it simple. But there's more.
Research has linked untreated gum disease to heart disease, diabetes, and other systemic health conditions. Treating gingivitis isn’t just about keeping your teeth. It’s a meaningful step toward protecting your broader health.
