Invisalign® Becomes a TikTok Star
Get hip to the ortho treatment that is gaining celebrity status

In addition to being a surprising vehicle for Gen Z to influence geopolitics by pranking heads of state, TikTok is proving to be a substantial way for companies to influence viewers through paid marketing campaigns – including teeth treatments like Invisalign®.

The company recently launched a TikTok campaign in Q3 with TikTok superstar Gen Z influencers like Charli Damelio. The ad campaign boosted sales of Invisalign® by 25% in the quarter, sending people to their orthodontists in droves asking about Invisalign®

We don’t want to sound like old hipsters about this or anything, but Burns Dentistry was into Invisalign® way before it was cool.

Although to be fair, it’s always been cool. I mean, what’s not to love about a nonsurgical way to straighten your teeth without painful metal braces? Invisalign® has been revolutionizing orthodontia for nearly 20 years, and Burns Dentistry, well, we totally “stan” Invisalign® and aren’t shy about it.

So, just in case you get asked about it by some TikTokker in your orbit, we thought we’d share a few pro tips from a dental perspective on how Invisalign® works so that you’d be “in the know” when asked.

Q:“What is Invisalign®?”

A: “Invisalign® is a way to correct your teeth without wire braces. It uses computer-generated plastic aligners that are nearly invisible to fix teeth issues.”

Q: “So, would Invisalign® fix my (gap, overbite, underbite, crooked tooth)?”

A: “Invisalign® is designed to fix things like crowded teeth, crooked teeth, gapped and spaced teeth, and certain problems with the bite – such as an overbite, open bite, underbite, or crossbite.”

Q: “How does it do that?”

A: “You start out by getting sized up for the aligners by your orthodontist. From there, you get new aligners every couple of weeks as the system changes the spacing of your teeth. In the end, you’ve got straighter teeth without having to go through the whole braces process. They’re also removable, which is nice because you don’t have to leave them in while you’re eating and brushing your teeth and FLOSSING. You’ve been flossing, right?”

Q: “Uhm – ya? So, anyway, Charli Damelio from TikTok got Invisalign® and so did Khloe from my Insta feed. Can I get it, too?”

A: “Maybe. Invisalign® isn’t right for every problem. I know when I got mine, the orthodontists at Burns Dentistry did a thorough evaluation to make sure Invisalign® fit my needs before I got my first aligners.”

Q: “YOU got Invisalign®?!??”

A: “Don’t worry about it, sweetheart.” (It’s a TikTok thing. You’ll totally pull it off and sound like you’re totally knowledgeable about Gen Z slang and not get an eye roll in response. We have faith in you.)

Yes, while it might be all the rage among teens right now, Invisalign® does wonders on adult orthodontic issues as well. It can fix bite issues such as overbite, underbite and crossbite, as well as teeth straightening and gaps between teeth. If you’ve had dental work in the past, you don’t have to worry about biting down into anything sticky or gross, because Invisalign® maps your mouth digitally and then builds your aligners based on those digital scans. No gunky dental molds needed!

Also, because Invisalign® is a series of removable aligners, it means that you can take them out when brushing, flossing or eating. This is far more versatile than braces or other orthodontia from yesteryear, which come with dietary restrictions and metal hardware. If you’ve been putting off getting your teeth fixed because you don’t want the inconvenience, Invisalign® may be just what you need.
